From 1.54 release notes: WORLD NOTES We have reactivated the courier missions - the description follows: Realm vs. Realm (All realms) - Courier missions We have introduced a new set of tasks named "Courier missions". These missions take place within the frontiers and can only be given to players who are 30th level or higher. There are two sides to each mission, a kill task and a protect task. The primary goal of the kill task is to speak with the mark dealer for a task, locate the courier listed, hunt the courier down, and then kill it. The protect task is a bit different in that you must find the courier, speak to it to obtain the task, and then ensure the courier reaches its destination alive. To better assist the defenders in locating a courier to defend, we have also added a status monitor within both border keeps. These status monitors will broadcast to the entire keep if a courier needs a defender and where this courier is located. You can also speak with this monitor to find if there are any couriers in transit that require assistance. As with all tasks, you may use /task command to receive the status of your task at any time. Please note that you will have only one hour to complete this task. Should the courier take longer than this to reach its destination or should you not locate the courier, the task is considered forfeit. The details of the rewards are as follows: Kill Task - A large sum of coin will be split evenly to anyone who is on this task when the courier is killed. In order to receive your reward, you must be within 6000 units (just outside of visual range) of the courier when it dies. Protect Task - A large sum of coin will be split evenly to anyone who is on this task when the courier reaches its destination. In order to receive your reward, you must be within 6000 units (just outside of visual range) of the courier when it reaches this point. How much gold do you get roughly? I have never hearf of people bothering with these, so assume they are crap?
My friend went on one and get 125 gold for the 20 or so minutes it took to follow the courier. I think there's a set amount of gold which gets split amongst the people who accepted the task to protect/ kill the courier.
The reward is 240g split between all the ppl helping. In other words its 240g all for you if you complete it solo. Couple of things tho, he sticks out like a sore thumb, casting an annoying halo type spell as he walks, making him an easy target for any enemies. He also walks in a straight line, at a very slow pace. If he walks through a zone wall, he dissapears altogether, never to reach his destination. Hes red or sometimes purp to 50, and can beat up most agro you come across. But he does walk rather slowly, so whatever hes carrying must be heavy . They seem to depart every hour on the half hour (0030, 0130 etc) roughly. But you need to either need to be very lucky of be at Svasud to know where hes leaving from each time, or be in the right keep. Also, there is bounty rewards for killing an enemies courier, although I have yet to see anyone do this.
I waited allmost 3hours in Svasud for a courier broadcast, clicked on Ulfr regulary too, no luck. A guildy joined me after about 2hours, and waited the last with me. Finally we desided to port to alb land and kill a courier instead. We got a task first time we asked Ohtor, failed it due to some heavy mob aggro. Ported back, got a new task right away, but failed this too cause of albs near mmg hadrians. Anyone know why we never heard of our own courier?
Yesterday i got a courier, it was early afternoon and not many people about. I just ran to the keep because i lost the courier (yes i know what your thinking ) went afk for a cuppa, came back and there it was right clicked and bam 240g I then decided to run to Hadrians, i ran past a keep and saw a courier, ran up and clicked on it and it gave me the task then disappeared. Bam! another 240g I was very happy with that, 480g within 5 mins
Yeah, it was b4 1.57 patch and SI. Easy money, but now things changed. I found a courier in our frontier, he was staying at the keep as usually. I think "I am lucky ", right-click on him... and nothing happens. "You examine courier, he is friendly blah-blah-blah" and no tasks. I try to interact with him by typing /task e t c. Nothing. Well when i am escort him to the another keep he is just disappear and not rewarded me. It happens twice. I though it was a bug. I asking a support about it, and this is an answer: "This task as to be combined with a intercept task, which means you need someone to take the intercept task at about the same time." So, hows it works now? Any ideas?
