How do I get XP for this quest? I have the Horn and all, but I don't get any experience for it... My quest log tells me to kill that final boss when I'm lvl 50, but I need my xp so I can ding 50!!
Tried to give the horn to that Donnchadh dude, but he doesn't want it.
Any suggestions?

i was told to serch for fruadan draoi manus in the bolg of cullen for him to read the pooka hoof. is this part neccesary or is it for an item?

it is required... Manius is north of Ailinn Bin, walk there from innis.

Well before killing a Pooka you need to do this:
1) Find the shrieking tree and listen to the shrieking wraiths ( kill one. )
...
I think the steps from the level 45 and level 47 quests are somewhat mixed up, anyways you still need to do them :)
