Lvl 1: 3, Lvl 2: 6, Lvl 3: 10 \| Pre req: Aug Con 3 60 second boost to physical damage absorption, 10% per level per level of this ability. If you've got it; do you like it? Does it help a lot? Posts: 184 Apr 28 03 7:56 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	avoid pain? i foolishly used my last respec some time ago to get avoid pain 2. the result was i cancelled my account as i was so hopelessly gimped the game was no fun, and i did not have another respec to go back to IP. if our realm did not have a successful dragon raid mere days before the cancel went through, where one of my best daoc buddies got a stone and gave it to me, i would have ebayed months ago.

Posts: 8 Apr 28 03 8:27 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I have AP1.. its alright I guess.. but if i could respec i'd drop it, only go augcon2, toughness1, and then mastery of pain. Only really use it in 1on1 situations, and half the time i forget to use it even then. Trying to save for AP2 after MoP3 with my current RAs would be hell.. would need to go from 7L2->7L8, and i'd want some other little ones first. If I get to respec out of it, i'll consider getting it again... at RR9 or something (currently 6L1)

Posts: 93 Apr 28 03 9:22 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I disagree, I have avoid pain 2 and I use it most rvr fights I have, unless I am being rolled by a zerg. I have beaten other classes with it that have used IP very comfortably. When i'm buffed i've beaten a fully buffed 50 valewalker that used IP. I consistantly annihilate a rr7 melee specced ranger who has top red buffs and uses IP. I'll post one of the logs. I still had 1/3 health after this log. Do at least reconsider it. I don't have ignore pain or purge, I've got my 1.4million rps that way, you don't need purge or IP to do well. Think about it with our worst defense we are always getting hit easily. Why not have something that lets you last longer each fight giving your healer a chance to heal or someone help you. Plus that you will get more natural hps with aug con 3 and easily giving you access later on to armour of faith for 3 points if you want it. I'm not saying its better than the IP/purge path, t you certainly won't be gimping yourself any further by getting at least level 2 in avoid pain. [20:22:29] Kedio was just killed by Elrikdragon! Posts: 17 May 1 03 4:19 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	So did any of you guys bother getting some random piece of armor charged with 10 af buffs to wear only when using the buff? Suposedly, if it works like the healer af charge (they got one on their epics) it lowers melee damage taken by quite a lot. Comparable to Armor of Faith, I guess. Could be usefull for soloing Odin's and such.

Posts: 184 May 1 03 7:22 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	yeah i'm an armorcrafter i have a studded glove i imbued with the AF charge. and another one with the attack speed increase charge. unfortunately using items is really gimped time wise. there's a 3 minute delay between using one of those level47 charges and using anything else, so if you use one, then use the other, then wait 3 minutes to fight since you want to use end heal potions and such, you're down to just 4 minutes on the first one. they are a nice idea in theory, but due to time between uses they are not very practical. the str/con potions on the other hand and end heal/regen pots are pretty useful. but a pain in the ass since they dont stack. /sigh just can't win what i'm doing now is using the staff reward (i have a 50 RM) from the ancestral secrets quest. it procs a 10 minute 75 AF buff which stacks with all others. problem is it has a really low chance to proc against grey mobs, sometimes you have to kill like 15 of them to get it to proc. oddly enough if you attack a purple mob with it it procs at least 50% of the time. it's an odd item, but i dig the 742 AF.

I would settle for the one, and it is not suposed to be on the same timer as healing potions according to those alchemy people over at daoctradeskills.com - mayhaps it is anyway? The milegate swinging, might actually work while running solo, everything to get that little something extra. \(^-^)/ What tincture are you guys using on your weapons anyway, for regular RvR/Duels? DoT isn't all too good for the occasional solo Odin's trip, but it does deal the highest dmg over time out of the procs. Mayhaps you are all using TG drops? (-_-);;

Probably don't want it to proc that often, but you do want it to proc fast.. Arms then? Oh but how I would want the tuscarian discordant chest piece, proccing a heal at delve.. 180? That one, af reactive on arms and ablatives (dropped preferably) on the rest of the armor would be good times. Anyone who is using the Tuscarian Discordant Vest? Is it godly or just very good? ;p~

But you have to give up some other skills to get it. get IP and then get AP2, you may have to drop purge or mopain. 2h users are inferior, you'll never outdamage a dual wielder in the short fight time or a s/s guys defense will beat you out. increasing your damage absorb will win you more fights than an extra 50 dmg critical swing on your 200 dmg hit every 5 seconds.

I usually have to use Assault to get some attack bonus, or if they aren't shield/parry specced I usually just go for polar rift till my endurance runs out, mez and drop out for FA2 + an endurance potion, then Ragnarok back into combat and either assault or polar rift to the end. Which sucks compared to Havoc + Tyr's Fury, no doubt.

It's a definite boost to defense every 15 mins - relatively short timer if you ask me and it's way more useful compared to MoPain. In fact, I respec'd out of MoPain 3 and other fluff to get AP2 and never really felt the difference in dishing out damage but appreciated the boost in defense outright - of course I still kept IP before getting it. Right now, I have AP2, MoPain3, IP and other RAs that are pre-requisites. Just won a realm respec stone and I might respec out of MoPain again to get AP3 or another combo. Oh yeah, forgot to add, did some tests and it seems the melee resists offered by AP does not stack over your base melee resists. So, let's say you have 29% slash resist, dont expect to hit 49% slash resist when you hit that AP2. AP is calculated after the base resist is factored out first. Sadly, this is not how BoF works. Then again I could be wrong or made a mistake, anyone care to reconfirm? And anyone able to help me test out on pendragon? I'd like to do a comparison between AP 3 versus AP2 + Armor of Faith 2 - 2nd combo is slightly cheaper Oh yeah... give skalds haste shout, up our weaponskill and shorten our DD timers.. combining resists too!
