Summary:

Running with/without AF buffs, most clerics getting hit by a 1hnd slash weapon will be hit for around 70 or so by an unbuffed, non-styling attack.

WITH SB's, for 30 seconds (approximately 8 swings with a 1hnd 3.6 unhasted weapon) with/without AF buffs, that same cleric will be hit for around 50.

I also tested with my polearm, but the results are really inconclusive due to Double Speccing varience (*sighs*) and the fact I'd have to test it about a million times, as I would get a total of 5 swings off each time SB was used.

Thoughts: If this ability was 60 seconds in length, it COULD be Group Avoid Pain 2 (THIS WAS NOT TESTED ON CASTERS/ROGUES/TANKS). But, with BoF lasting 60 seconds, the fact that 10 RP's for an armsman is HELL to get and that this is only available every 30 minutes, compared to AP being used every 15...... IMO... it's not worth the cost unless you are RR6+ and there are a total of 11 on our server... of which, 6 are active.

Your test pretty much says nothing valid about the RA. Firstly, there is a soft cap on AF, meaning after a certain armor factor, the amount of damage that a higher AF reduces damage by is lessened. I haven't been able to determine <exactly> where that AF is, but I believe it to be around 720-750.

Therefore, testing on a cleric, whose AF is going to exceed the soft cap when SB is up, is generally useless. You also <must> test in an RvR-setting. IE: Both parties need to be fully buffed.

If I were to actually <test> the damage reduction given by SB, I would do it by grouping a cloth caster, disband, and attack (us both being buffed). Have an outside cleric healing the caster.

I have always seen SB as a complimentary RA to BoF. If you look at the numbers, meaning Abs and AF, if you run both BoF and SB at the same time, you literally have casters running around in <better than> plate armor for 30s.

Just my two cents, and I'd love to help out testing if you need it. I've been pretty busy irl, and will be until the middle of next week, but if you need anything to run the tests, what I consider to be appropriately, drop me a line.
