Question on volley and rapid shot |
10/12/04 9:08 AM |
My Hunter just got volley and rapid shot. I have a few questions on how these work. I've been searching for details of these skills but haven't been able to find any. For volley, my understanding is you set a ground target and everything near the gt gets hit by an arrow up to the maximum amount of arrows in the volley, hence at spec 35 you can hit up to 3 people around the gt. Is this correct? My other questions about volley are: Do arrows do normal damage? How do you reset the ground target once set? Can you set up a macro to help with this? Can you set a gt on a keep wall? Can a person only be hit by one arrow in the volley? For rapid shot, my understanding is you notch an arrow and can release as soon as you want. The damage % is lowered by the % of time released before normal. Is this correct? Sorry for the questions, but I want to have a good understanding of these skills before the next battleground. Thanks, Morwynn 41.5 Hunter RR2L5 |

.1) Yup, it is. .2) Never had volley yet (Im on EU servers.) but I'm pretty sure they do atm, not sure if it is changed. .3) You can indeed set up a macro for this, you just need to know what your maximum range is (Hunter steps from comp. bow + % range from ToA bonusses) then macro /groundset xxxx .4) Not sure, probably is intended to be like that, but perhaps theres some line of sight bug sometimes? .5) Arf, not too sure.. i think you can tbh. .6) Think over time tests showed a slightly higher dmg output by using RF, but your endu + arrows will go alot faster ;o. Dmg is halved, so is speed upto the 1.5 (?) second cap. ---------- Marczje DarkHerra, Lvl 50 Kobold Flammen Herra Hunter [RR7l4] [ml10 Sojourner] Black Company [Mid/Excalibur] - Retired |

1. full damage, so use your slowest bow with volley 2. /groundset xxxx or set it manually 3. yes, you can also set a GT inside (for example you are at ground floor and set GT to up floor) 4. no, I sometimes hit 2-3 times a single persons, sometimes I even kill him rapid shot assumptions are correct ________________________________________ Angosha - Igraine - Midgard - Skald Angoscia - Igraine - Midgard - Huntress |

Thanks for the feedback. I used rapid shot some yesterday in PvE and wasn't too impressed. It seems to me that it uses more arrows to do the same amount of damage as regular shot. I do like volley. It's hard to use because of setting the ground target, but the fact you can hit the same person more than once makes it have potential. I could see you being able to knockdown a caster's bladeturn and hit him multiple times there after. Morwynn 42 Norse Hunter RR2l1 |

It's for PvP, Rapid shot is the Mage killer, pop thier bubble, and shoot them down while interrupting them before they can get out of range! |

I see. It's a skill to be used in PvP. I'll try it out in that setting and reevaluate my opinion because I was disappointed in it's PvE performance. |

Yes, its a situational type tactic. The classic example is as described above against a caster that gets too close. Pop his bubble and RF him till he's dead. He's constantly being hit and cant cast so must run for it. Obviously this tactic works even better when two or more hunters are on the same target. Especially when said hunters are on a wall or on a tower and shooting down. Or you can be asissting a fellow caster on a caster target. Its not ideal in every situation but it has its uses at times. |
