Can someone tell me how to use volley? Is it like F5 something set ground target hit it again. I just do not know the mechanics of volley on how to pull it off. If someone could explain this to me or give me a site that explains how to use volley I would be so happy. Volley fires on a groundtarget. You can manually set one, or use macro's like I do. (/macro [name] /groundset [distance]). I use the latter, and highly recommend it. Using the F5 method, you hold down F5, and use the arrow keys to move it (only forward or backward, it will move in a straight line from where you are looking). Once you hit the volley icon on your qbar, you will unstealth and draw an arrow on the regular shot timer(with no graphic indicating your bow is drawn, so make sure you read your chat box to know when you're ready to fire). Then fire away! Depending on what lvl of volley, you will fire 3 - 6 arrows, each of which has a chance of hitting one or more targets in the aoe (i don't know how wide of a radius it has though, but the damage doesnt' taper off like normal aoe each arrow hits just as hard). You get a message in the chat box telling you when each shot is ready to fire, and you can't auto-release volley shots.
You're not likely to kill anyone with it, unless they were almost dead in the first place or they're too dumb to move off your GT, but it's awesome for clearing people off a keep gate or anywhere else you find them bunched up and not likley ot move anytime soon. When you use your macro do you have to retype it everytime? If that person name leaves or quits? and how do you know the distance! hehe, yeah i edited the macro, that's for a groundassist, my bad.
example:
/macro 1000 /groundset 1000 sets a GT 1000 units away from where you're facing at the time, and it will stay there til you reset your GT.

Volley is a wonderful skill and is widely underused. That said, Volley is most useful during a siege, whether sieging or defending.
Volley is a godsend for one reason and one reason only. You don't need line-of-sight to fire ;D
Here are a few examples of where Volley is awesome:
1. You're defending a tower and there are bainshees or warlocks or other equally nasty spell slingers below, either just out of your sight or moving too much to get a good shot. Good shot or not, you're risking death by sticking your neck out over the ramparts... you know SOMEONE down there is watching for you to show yourself. What do you do? Stealth up and walk to the edge of the roof to get a good view of the situation. Find a nice cluster of baddies, or a high-traffic area and set a groundtarget. Step back a few feet to the center of the roof, or even climb down to the top floor for complete safety and volley away. No LoS needed and volley will work as long as your groundtarget is within range. Now you're raining arrows down upon anyone and anything that happens to be near and you're completely unscathed.
2. You're taking a tower. Some annoying hunter/ranger or caster up on that roof picking your team to pieces? Wanna scatter the outer ledge? Wanna stick it to the oil dumper? Set a groundtarget on the ledge or roof (harder to do because you can't see it.. trial and error might be necessary here..) and fire away. Again, get out of sight, either hug the wall or find a place to duck into and hide and volley away. The'll go crazy trying to figure out how you're hitting them.
3. You're inside a tower/castle keep and the enemy is defending the lord/captain room. This is more risky, but very rewarding. Stealth up and head up the stairs to get a ground target or ask around to see if anyone has one set in the room and /groundassist them. Then get to the bottom floor or other relatively safe place and fire away. Again, no line-of-sight needed and it's fun firing through the floor/ceiling :)
One of my most successful uses of volley was on a group or so of Mids holed up in Caer Beno's west bridge tower. They had trebs up and were taking the wall down with no albs in sight. I was in my low 40s, so I wasn't about to solo any of them. Instead, I crept up the other bridge tower and set my groundtarget, jumped in the water, and swam underneath their side of the bridge. I volleyed for quite a while underwater and was never found. I was only able to kill one, but I did hurt others and many of my shots were landing. At the very least I frustrated them or made them go a little nutty as I was very hard to find. They were quickly wiped when the first wave of albs arrived, but I'd like to think I helped put a wrench in their plans at a low level :D Aleas - 50 Scout, RR5L8 ML10 (Percival)

volley=best ability of all time I did an @ post in the correct forum and was given an amazing post count. I was negative Leet until I posted again.
