Fastest way to kill a caster?? |

Was curious with the few bow options we have eg. Rapid Fire, Sure Shot, Critical Shot which shots do experienced rangers use to kill an enemy the fastest? Say for example Im sitting in a keep waiting for a caster to get within range??

I can't say I'm experienced, just 2L6 atm, but a few things work on casters. if it's a huge battle going on, I would try to RF his BT away (if the battle is big enough he probably won't see the message telling him it's gone down because of all the spam), and then critshot + normal shot for the kill. If he's just kinda running around like a headless chicken, I use true shot to pop his BT and then normal shots to kill him. They have such low hps it only takes 2-3 shots from an unbuffed ranger to kill, I'm sure most people could do it in 2 easy. If it's a healer, try to chain critshots. A lot of times a healer will stand still and try to heal himself like an idiot, and you can just chain crits at him til he dies (which shouldn't take long). If the caster is a sorc, don't engage him from range, he'll own you. You just can't keep up with the damage of a sorc's lifetap with the crappy bow dps. If you need to kill a sorc, melee him, or get a buddy to /assist you and take him down quickly. Hope that helps, but take it with a grain of salt I'm only 2L6 =D I'm probably overlooking a lot of things.
Sure shot lets you shoot for 50% damage, while uninterruptable from range.
btw, I never use sure shot... it's crap in my experience :( against a caster if you try to sure shot him you might keep him interupted, but with their ridiculous casting speeds these days you probably won't. and you sure as hell won't kill him before he kills you. Your best bet is to just never let a caster light you up like that =D you'll prolly die before you even get off a sureshot. IMO run if you can, or maybe try to RF him if you think you can. sureshot just doesnt have the dps. you'll hit a caster for like 10% of his hps while he hits you for 40 hehe. |

Casters have numerous ways of protecting themselves... But, occasionally I get lucky and nail one hard.
The most frustrating is if the caster has a bot or a buddy with shield spec blocking for him. It's bad enough he has Blade Turn, but to waste arrow after arrow to finally realize your not doing anything except exposing yourself to anyone with range.
Crit shot followed by one or two more shots. If BT is up, then the Crit Shot may or may not get through. Pentrating Arrow is susposed to help with this. I haven't seen a huge difference, from when I ran around with 36 Bow, now I have 45 Bow. But, as I said, I do occasionally get through.
The BEST way I have seen, is to group a bunch of rangers together and all /assist the lead ranger. A group of 5 rangers I was in was taking towers in minutes and anyone that got in our way from inside or outside was toast. We only stopped after losing a few people to LD's and became seperated enough from each other. fastest easiest way, find a stupid caaster, be a luri (short and ahrd to c = win) and as for killing him, just shoot the mofo :P my roflcopter died in the making of the corrupt a wish thread. if you are at range, and stealthed, do a regular shot, then immediately chain a critshot.
the regular shot should drop the bladeturn allowing you to crit.
if you are in a keep situation, just do regular bowshots. |

I have 50 bow which carries a 10% chance to break BT and go through.
I crit, if bubble stops I switch to weap and back to bow asap and line up another crit. Follow up shot = death in alot of cases. Most of the time they dont even notice :)
If they have PBT I generally go with Rapid Fire. Will work better as I get higher MoPain and Falcon's eye. And they DO stack together for crits on bow shots. |

um at 50 bow its 100% BT Pop..and MoP doesnt add damage to bow. Through pain comes discipline.. |

| Ahhhwhere 50 Bow is a CHANCE to pop bt and do 100% damage. Does not guarantee it will pop bt and do 100% damage. |

fastest way to kill a caster is a Remington 40xb in 6mm rem. 100 grain pspbt. use a 20x unertl scope and from 1000 yards you can pickem off just as he baits the hook.

It was my understanding that 50 Bowspec (Penetrating Arrow) pierces but does not pop Bladeturn. Y/N?
Forever in Thid I would shoot Normal shot then do Critshot once BT was down.
For lvl 50 Trueshot + Critshot would be the way to go. |

God I wish MoP and Falcons Eye stacked... just get lvl 5 of each and thats all you would ever need, kill anything in a couple shots since you will crit every time you shoot someone...
Yea you would need to be 7L8, but thats 78% chance to crit from those, plus base chance to crit... would be rare to see a shot that doesnt crit... so there goes your theory out the window, they wouldnt allow someone to be able to crit almost 90% of the time... |

Penetrating arrow does not pierce self bladeturn on a caster, period. It has a chance, according to lvl you have of it, to pierce group bt or pbt.
Best way to kill a caster, if he doesn't have like 3 brittle guards up, is to Trueshot, then Crit... if that doesn't do it, throw in a rapid... that will finish. If he has brittle guard/guards up, I rapid 1 bg, then if more I pop them 1 at a time, I restealth and move alil in between, and hope he doesn't recast or isn't paying attention. Then after bgs are down, trueshot then crit. 99% of time, they will die to that, unless sm... intercepting pets and brittle guards make them real tuff.
And MoP is for chance to crit in melee, get falcon eye for a chance to crit with bow. FE is nice to have, but I wouldn't waste alot of rsp's for over FE 3. I like Phy Def 3, MoS 3... those 2 are well worth it, IP 2 and purge 2 are nice also, it's just according to what ya want your role to be and situations/server you play on.
And Gwido, you being rr 8 and having played awhile, you should know they don't stack. U hit hard on a Crit cause of 50 bow +18 with sc and rr. 68 bow and afew lvl of FE, u have to hit hella hard on a crit, not to mention the artis/items you probably have to increase bow damage/spd/range. I have 50 +14 bow and have crit'd at times for 1100+ buffed ofcourse.
