Is there any particular reason for having a limited range on necro pets??? Out of range the necro pet is like any other pet that can't receive spell commands from the caster/shade. I would dare to say that 99% of the complaints about pet pathing would vanish would our pets be allowed to go 10 feet from us without dying.

The pet range is to keep us from being completely unfair with what were able to do. If the pet was in a safe place, and no tether, then the shade could go anywhere with no threats of being killed. This more or less makes a necro the ultimate stealth recon, but this is unbalanced.

Some may recall that when the class was introduced we had some "cool" abilities.

Much longer tether range.
Could pick up loot without servant nearby (that made some encounters easy).
Enemy gatekeepers would let us in.

Tether is actually a lot longer than you think. If you paid more attention to your pet, you would notice that. It is really annoying to read complaints about pet distances, makes me think that the people complaining really have no idea how to play a necro other than mashing the power tap. keep an eye your pet as often as you can and you will notice a difference.

I know you can do it pumpkin, want to hold my hand too?

I have not found the tether a problem........really quite long enough for most purposes

i really dont see how having no tether would be OPed. so yeah bid deal you can be safe and recon. but you cant cast unless you are close to pet. it would be no diff than stealthing, you just cant do anything but look. /shrug and chances are you will be outa RP range if your guildies kill something...

I did this once or twice to Team Wizzy when he was on his bainshees, and when they could still go through bridges with no problem. Course I also had fun dropping ML7 DD/power/etc on him and just emoting away with the /hugs and the /slaps. tongue

Has anyone ever have this happen to them?

1. Put pet on passive.
2. Cross bridge, get to about half way then pet drops through the bridge. Tether icon begins flashing.
3. Face pet, begin sprinting toward pet.
4. Pet dies due to tether, get one-shotted by a ranger/hunter.

I agree that having an unkillable recon class would be op'd, but why not just have the tether apply only when the pet is not set to follow.

Heres an idea, go to Pendragon or just risk dieing to a solo assassin/archer, go to the trouble spots on these bridges, and pay attention to where your pet is when it 'disappears'. Also try to notice what your pet tries to do at this point, and what does/doesnt work in terms of not losing the pet.

On Beno bridge for example, usually the pet is directly underneath the bridge as if it were still following you until you hit the 'wall' section of the bridge underneath, and at this point the pet will either stay down there or try to run up.

Basically just log onto pendragon, maybe drag a friend or your bot and go to the spots you keep losing your pet and just play with the area.

Unless they changed how pet reacts to pathing and the fallthrough on Beno bridge, I never lose my pet there because I practiced with what was going on with my pet.

..or just don't take bridges if they are an issue for you. Sure it will take a few more seconds to cross it, but then you don't have alll your other problems to deal with.
