Looking for opinions here on a hypothetical. I have no idea rather such a change could/would be implemented, but before determining that, would such a change have any benefit?

Currently all melee damage delt by our elementals is slash damage. What are your thoughts on slash damage on the elementals and would anyone have interest in the damage being a diferent type. Crush for instance? or magical melee tied to the type of elemental (like legendary weapons)?

Just looking for opinions.

It would make more sense if they did damage related to their spec line, Air = spirit, Ice = cold, earth = matter.

But, they would probably end up doing less damage then they do now, simply due to the fact that we'd then be dealing with castable resist buffs, where as mid 20's slash resists is mostly all you see.

So my vote is for slash(or crush/thrust).

really I dont think it would make much diffrence either way.

I say leave them like they are and try to get them improved in other ways.

Player 1, Cheats LoS in PvE, no one considers quiting DAoC because of it = Mythic Suspends/bans the account

For high-end? Doesnt matter to me. pets are more an annoyance to ennemies than a damage dealing fnf.

For leveling purpose, that would probablt help a little bit, as an ice theu would probably try to hunt cold vulnerable mobs (etc..), but in the big scheme, that would be a very little boost to them, as mose damage from theu dont come from pets.

Probably just take like 10 seconds to change damage type in the big spreadsheat, but not worth asking for imo.

if they switched it to essence or seige dammage I would be interested, other wise I would leave them as is.

So it seems so far the consciences is no changes? What about an idea of earth pets doing crush, ice pets doing thrust, and air pets doing slash damage?

Rationale being earth pets are made of rock so crush, ice is 'piercing cold' so pierce, and air whips around slashing at you so slash damage?

That would weaken ice pets even further. One reason ice pets are bearable is that they do spirit damage whihc has lower resists. The changes you are looking for seem to be inconsequential to the status of our pets. Rather have mythic on real issues.

If we're worrying about melee damage of elementals, we are focusing on the wrong issues with the class (granted, there are not many).

Elementals were changed for the better (esp. earth pets).

The only current issue I have is pet pathing in many areas of the game, where your pets zigzag before making a target.

Earth pets in particular should hit based on Matter. Although it makes some sense to base it on crush, that would probably nerf thier damage as most folks have crush capped. The last thing the earthline needs is a nerf.

It seems overall that few people are interested in changes to elemental melee. I happen to agree that no changes are currently needed, but I was asked so thought best to pass the question along.

And to a couple of you, we were only talking about the melee damage, not the casted damage of the ice pets. But no changes mean no changes anyway happy

I have to agree with others that the melee damage type of the elementals is not a big issue. Changing it to a spell resist would actually decrease damage in RvR due to resist buffs.

The only change I think *might* be warranted is a slight increase in earth pet HP. I mean, they're made of rock (or earth) yet they seem to die faster than Ice/Air pets. The HP nerf they were given a couple years ago wasn't really needed.

I just wonder now... they asked TL's for feedback about that 4 days ago, and put patch on today...
Why it took them 2+ years for them to fix others things easy like paly chant too bright and big...
I think they look'd into the spam folder and finally found all the feedback in there!
