When I play my friend's verdant animist it seems like if I spam pbae continuously every now and then it just skips one without it ever actually going off. Does this actually happen or is it an oversight on my part?

Yes, if you leave it on defensive, it will ocassionally attack after a pbae and you'll miss a round.

I've not seen mine miss a cast, but I have seen it double-cast two in a row. You may be getting double-casts and not seing it.

passive is a big help if you are having to spam the spells.

Once it gets the opportunity to cast, it'll instacast all the ones it has queued up.
I've seen mine blow out as many as four casts in a single round due to my fast casting speed queueing them up while the turret attacked something.

Right, but if timing is important (ie you are trying to pull mobs off the druidbot or yourself) then I could see the desire to put it on passive.
