I figured it out today. Its mousewheel + my right ctrl button (my left one didnt work for me which is the one i tried before my last post...go figure).

Thanks though, atleast I know for sure which button it is, now if only I could spec out of IP for volley right now (im a grouped hunter and Ip just wasnt the best RA to get first)

Oh, and ironically, moving the wheel back makes the ground target triangle thing go up, not down.

First time poster...long time reader!

Great thread as soon as i get out of DF i am going to get Volley.

The way i ground target up or down is F5 + s or x.

I've got another question, about the Z-axis position of the ground target. Let's imagine I want to set a ground target in the center of the room on top of AMG, should the ground target marker exactly level with the floor?

As a sub-question, does volley hit targets in a circle, a sphere or a cylinder. I don't suppose you'll hit anything in a fort tower by setting the target on the bottom floor, but is it possible to hit ennemies in 2 levels of the tower at the same time?

I hope this makes sense...

it's sphereical. I was able to kill defenders hiding inside a lord tower by placing the z axis in their general location. Was funnny I killed a PBAE in a mid fort while he was getting ready to PBAE us when door 2 fell.

I'm not sure how large that sphere is tho, I've shot a Volley plenty of times at a GT where Earth Wizards were hitting targets yet when I Volley'd (more than once) I could never get a bead on one.

Volley is random hit or miss you could fire 5 shot at 2 guys standing on the GT and not hit either then again there might be times when you fire at a large group and hit the same guy multiple times. It's very random.

I assume volley won't hit someone if you /assist someone and someone's got an enemy targetted.

I assume that this doesn't work because Volley will always fire at your GROUND target.

Am I mistaken?

You are correct.

/assist will not impact Volley

/groundassist will though

A utility macro that is handy...

/macro ga /groundassist %T

Maybe I'll do a
/macro gtmac /macro gtast /groundassist %t
to go along with my
/macro macro /macro assist /assist %t
so I can make quick macros to groundassist group memebers.

Didn't have time to read all the posts so don't know if it was mentioned but here is a short cut.

You can use /gr (name) for groundassist targeting rather then typing out the whole words.

Helps people who type really slow like me a ton hehe.

Something I found by playing about; instead of starting the volley and waiting for the 'you are ready to fire!' message each time, you can also set arrows to auto-release like a normal shot.

Once the 'x.x seconds to fire' part comes up, tap your bow again to get it to auto-release. If you're quick after each shot you can auto-release each shot in turn and be a really slick volley machine

I did a double-tap once by mistake and it said 'you will now automatically release your shot and reload', but this doesn't do anything else I think, since volley reloads for you automatically.

I discovered a sneaky thing about volley. Next time you are out volleying time how long it take to hit your target after you get the sails in the air but not into a clear area message. I have had times when it took 4 seconds when it looked like a prossible strike. Now ready your volley. Fire until you get that message then fire one or two more depedning how long it takes for the arrow to hit. before it does take a step to break the vely setup and immediately stealth before the arrow lands. you volley will strike it's targets and you will remain stealthed. the enemy will not have you in the target box so they cannot. /face you. if you were close enough pets will not be fooled.

Border Keep Bombardment: Patch 1.65 removed the ability to Fire into Border Keeps :

Above statement is true to an extent, you can't place your target inside of BK but what you can do is place it near enough to the wall that the aoe also strikes those inside of the keep, ie those on pad for example at Sauvage Keep. anyway hitting 1 or 2 and you are sure to get some response

I feel it's unethical to volley people inside a BK, the gloves come off when it's a pk in your homeland. I never vollied into any Portal keeps other then the ones in Emain.
