The first pet you get is the nothing special one. He fights melee and that's it. The second pet you get is the baby-caster one. Noticeably weaker than the first pet, he's a pretty good caster. The third pet is the healer. He casts a HP regen buff on everyone in your group, and will heal you if you fall below 50%. His heal spell is pretty slow though, so you shouldn't rely on it like a BD can. The fourth pet is the tank. He'll cast a AF buff on himself, and is FAR more durable than either the original pet or the healer version. The final pet is the bigkid caster, the Zealot. He nukes pretty good, and is far more durable than the lowbie one. He casts a damage shield on himself, and can take a decent beating. Quote from Dirshaun -Intelligent discourse with someone who has intellect is is far more gratifying then nearly any other pursuit. I enjoy the debate, even if I lose. In this case I really can't lose because I learn more about the game. |

Companion has a slow swing time. Nothing that affects your pet will affect you, unless it is AOE. People with bots/grouped tend to use the Ally though, because the Druid/Bard/Warden AF buff is a lot better than the Companion one at higher levels. Ally (healer pet) also has a higher ABS too. The companion is by far a better nuker though; because its nuke is a snare nuke. The zealot debuffs to heat when it nukes from what I've heard. Never use it personally. |

Zealot debuff is heat, but it does energy damage so its useless for the pet itself. If you spec Mana, you have no need for the Zealot if you want to range pull because you have a way better debuff. Zealot does 8%, which is crap frankly. Katachia - 50 Eldritch Glastonbury Belyand - 30 Battle Bard Glastonbury Kotoria - 18 Sorc Excalibur Katachia - 16 Minstrel Excalibur |

Underhill Friend hits harder than compatriot ive noticed, it does not have as many hit points or as much defense though, in RvR i use friend alot and it works well, definately hits harder than compatriot. When I know im sending my pet into a situation where it will get beat on I use compatriot, like in keep/tower defense or PvE. When I think people will ignore the pet or I want to kill someone fast I use friend, like in Keep/tower attacking, or open field RvR. Im almost full enchantment BTW, so all my pets have more hit points. Companion casts a DD+snare, I use companion alot more than zealot in open field RvR, as it will snare tanks/stealthers so they cannot catch up to me as easily. Zealot casts a DD+heat debuff, I use it sparingly, usually when I am in a group or against enemy casters that dont need to be slowed down, I think its a weak debuff though, like 10%, it doesnt help my base light DD too much. I rarely use zealot. But like I said, im almost full enchant, so all of my pets are pretty tough, and I have a strong long range heal that doesnt need line of sight. I didnt know zealot did energy damage Katachia, very interesting, thank you for this insight, and its 8%, i was about right, hehe, Zealot needs fixing IMO, i rarely use it. DD+snare is far more useful. As far as ally pet, i really just quickcast it when I need healing bad, like when I have a bad DOT on me and my purge is down. Or when group has no healer and they all yell at me to bring an ally pet up. It can save your butt against one attacker, but if you have an archer or more than one enemy on you forget it, it cant save you in those cases. Caarthaiem, Percival Server 44th level Enchantress 41 Enchant/20 light PS, hehe Katachia im very tired of that Guin/Alb business too, im doing the very same thing, see you in Hib/Guin soon! and soon as my enchantress on perc is 50. I am a Breakout Bat.
I am an abstract sort of creature, who dislikes any sort of restraint. If you try to pigeonhole me, I'll break the box, and come back for more. I don't have any particular ambitions, I just drift, but I am adept at keeping life going along. What Video Game Character Are You? | |

Wow guys/gals. I tried that Underhill friend on a couple of pulls and ouch! That thing is sooo weak compared to the Compatriot. It did seem to hit a little harder but from what I could tell not enough to be worth using it. At least not for me. Maybe at the higher lvls when you get the big boy pet buffs and the heal procs it might become more worth using. I'll have to try it again then. For now I'm sticking to the Compatriot. Besides I've found pulling 2 mobs as much as possible helps me get thru the instance dungeons quicker and the Friend would be totally useless for multiple mob pulls. With the Compatriot I'm already having to throw a couple of in- battle heals and have to keep switching which mob my pet is attacking to make sure those heals don't draw aggro to me. I know I'd be in trouble with that very soft Friend pet. It's a game! Have fun! Bors: Taywen 50 Chanter, Jackbenimble 50 Bard, Thornzin 50 Animist. Merlin: Jamby 50 Thurg, Jeriemos 50 Necro.
