|
Just curious if there is anything that you can do with a chantment speced chanter thatyou could not do with another spec? Is there even one redeeming quality to going this spec?

You get nothing over a Mana chanter/bot. All you are is a druid that cant heal that well basically as a enchantment chanter.

In PvE you have 0 need for a bot period, simple to farm with. I farm purple taur easy without using ML9 or Juggernaut. And only have to use juggernaught if its a taur telete, or if I am personally in trouble.
In RvR though its a different story, you bring little to a group, caster groups wont' like you much, tank groups will like you just a bit more.
Upsides first
In RvR your spell casting pets will only occaisionally be resisted, only a handful of times in which I remember it being resisted, thanks to always on pet buff of spell piercing.
Your pet in right situations is a major pain, most other chanter pets you can easily ignore because at best they just a pest. Chant chanter pets are much more than a pest, even without juggernaught or ML9 used.
Tower/Keep defense you can be a pain if you know what you are doing. since you dont' have to be in harms way only your pet.
Downsides
Your pet is easy to lock down, either by CC or jsut spells in general.
Your pet is your DPS, it out of action your dps is 0

Note on pet spell pierce, the buff only makes it easier for it to ignore being resisted, and only if the pet is higher level does it up the damage
Most my experience with zealots
Worst I've ever seen is is 90, but I believe they had max resists and another RA up, minds not working fully right now so cant' think of name BAoD I believe
Highest is 436, after the zealot heat debuff, who I think was lower than level 44 and not the best top notch equipment
Average I would say is 120, against good-well equipped opponets.

So...
I could do 200-300 damage with my baseline nuke...have a pet doing 120 on the same target and have a damage add on every tank around me doing 40-50 extra damage each round of attack? That sounds like the best DPS in the game.

On paper might look good actual practice is different
LOS is terrible on pets,
They want to melee a lot even so you wnat them to blast
caster pets are hyper squishy, worse than us
My baseline nuke isnt' to great, with good druid buffs I might hit 300 occaisionally, would probably do micro sized better if I spent my 11 leftover points into light.
If you run with a group of tanks that have frequent encounters then the DA will start showing its use, but if you run in a group that doesnt' see very much group after group. Also consider the time a fight lasts and how many swings those tanks will have?
Example from earlier today
drake 4
I cast pet and buff from inside tower, set pet to aggro click door and tell pet to stay and run back in tower. Pet attacks the closest mids in area for 120+44 damage melee, I inside being a chessy person and use pet heals to keep him alive, takes all the mids about 30-40 seconds to kill pet but no mids died, was lucky there casters where not there at that time or just didn't care.
I cast zealot on top of tower, since mids where doing better at hitting me when I make pet drop run. pet casts 1 time then runs to door. I get pet back up to top and this time he stays and casts 4-5 shots, whorelock kills pet with double boom
Albs attack tower, and set up behind tower not far from side door. i ahve pet at front door, I go out side door and have him attack an avalonian. click back inside, I hit juggernaught 2 and heal from inside, albs run to the hills, literally in this case, and hibs chase killing every one of them. That alone gave me my 3 deathblows for that 4 hour period. I would have more but, I am using worse than piss poor equipment, and other casters there had greater cast speed and DPS than I did.
I'm not trying to tell you not to try it, but just letting you be as informed as you can be.

I like the enchants spec for PVE...if you don't have a bot. Even if you DO have a bot, as long as you have 25% buff bonus and 25% duration...you are better off using pet buffs than bot buffs.
The place where they really shine is the damage add and the heal proc.
Basically with the max heal proc, you will NEVER get aggro unless you are really unlucky. Everytime proc goes off, my bot does a Large heal(not the smallest one). As long as I do it straight after heal proc...I'm good.
It The rest I would go mana. You could go 44 Chants and 30 mana, since the mana shield will definately help with aggro.
From a RvR perspective, you would probably want to reverse mana and chants.. YOu will still get A damage add, and A heal proc which isn't as good, but still does the job. YOu shield will be very good, and you are useful in RvR due to PBAOE.
Another way to really help your usage in a group, is to get Croc Ring for AOE speed if bard isn't available.
