A guildie asked this question and I have to say I am not sure how to answer him:

What is your weap skill with artifact bows?

I was looking at my WS and couldnt figure why there was so much of a difference with his weap skill on bows with fools/braggarts. did some tweaking and came up with these #s with buffs.
On pend with fools bow and 50+15 bow his weap skill is 1989 he dont have braggarts there
1929 45 + 15 bow
1909 45 +14 bow
1865 45 +12 bow thats with fools bow

braggarts doesnt reach 15 QQ
45 +13 1907
49 +12 1885
45 +11 1845

So where does weap skill factor into damage? i dont have any aug stats, and reg stats are capped with room for ToA + caps. I had to sacrifice all my CD on pend to get 50 bow lowering cd to 8 so i dont know if thats good or not, there are not that many opportunities to shoot people ther, but i really did not notice any more difference in damage, altho i still only have fools bow on pend

Any thoughts?

The higher your bow skill the more benefit you get from dexterity



Weaponskill is a function of Spec and Dex.



Weaponskill = (Dex * Multilplier) + Base amount



But the multiplier and base amount varies according to spec



Base amount = 403 at spec 1  + 15



WS = (200 * 2.69) + 403 = 941

WS = (248 * 2.69) + 403 = 1070



Base amount = 455 at spec 16 + 15



WS = (200 * 3.04) + 455 = 1063

WS = (248 * 3.04) + 455 = 1209



Base amount = 577 at spec 50 + 15		

		

WS = (200 * 3.81) + 577 = 1339		

WS = (248 * 3.81) + 577 = 1522		



Base amount = roughly 403 + Spec * 3.48



Furthermore, Spec from items and RR counts MORE than natural spec.				

				

48 + 15 weaponskill:		1323		Both total 63 skill

50 + 13 weaponskill:		1308		But the weaponskill is different

				

	50 + 15	1339		1339 - 1308 = 31

	50 + 13	1308		31 / 2 = 16.5

				16.5 is the DPS of a level 51.

				Coincidence?

				I doubt it.	

					

So, at spec 50 with + 15 from items my WS equation is:					

					

WS = (dex * 3.81) +  577					

200 base, + 48 from BC buff + 48 from Aug Dex 5 = 296  dex					

So If I buff myself and get aug dex 5 I should have 1705 Weaponskill.					

					

.. And I have 1706.  Close enough.  96 dex = 367 weaponskill					



If I only had 42 bow spec that same 96 dex would only					

have netted me 350 weaponskill and I'd have 33 less to start with					

This would make a net weaponskill difference of only 50.					



At 400 dex the difference is:		WS		

	42 + 15 spec		2004		

	46 + 15 spec		2053		

	50 + 15 spec		2101	





So when improving your bow, your priorities are:						



	1 - Dex				Between 2.69 and 3.81 WS per point	

	2 - RR and Items				Unknown, but more than base spec.	

	3 - Spec				at 200 dex it gives you only ~8 WS per point	

					This scales up to ~13 WS per point at 400 dex.

For bow, use berserker as class and set yourself to one RR higher than you are. Pretty accurate.
