Braggarts Bow arrows also add more range, 50 units more range.
From the grab bag RE: bow range discrepencies:
So, what's the deal, Mistress? "I checked through the Hib recurve bows. The range on them does vary from 1600 to 1680 units and the range set does not necessarily correspond to the speed. So, it's actually quite possible to even have two bows of the same speed but different ranges."
So within bows of the same realm, there is some discrepency in the ranges amoungst the bows you have to chose from.
Your Camouflage ability will negate your opponent's MoS.
Everyone wants to know when they become visible to their opponent. Usually, the question is asked by a young scout with 35 + 13 = 48 (for example) total stealth.
An assassin is hunting you and your camo is downYour opponent is a level 50 nightshade/shadowblade with MoS2 (most common). For every level of stealth you are missing below 50 effective they get another 50 units of detection radius.
[50-48]*50 = 100 unit bonus vs you. So the detection radius vs you would be 425 + 100 = 525 units.
An archer is hunting you and your camo is downYour opponent is a level 50 ranger/hunter with MoS3 (most common). For every level of stealth you are missing below 50 effective they get another 20 units of detection radius.
[50-48]*20 = 40 unit bonus vs you. So the detection radius vs you would be 425 + 40 = 465 units.
Now you can decide what's right for you. Substitute your real level of stealth for my examples.
Midgard toons (see a shield? use barbed!):
Hiblet toons (see a shield? use keen!):
10% more damage for using the right arrows. That's incentive to start paying attention!
Mid with shield? Barbed
Mid without shield? Keen
Hib with shield? Keen
Hib without shield? Blunt
I have my quiver open and next to my bow icon on my hotbar for fast arrow changes. Or you can shift+left click the quiver slot and put them on your hot bar on some page like 10. Then you can quickbind the quiver slots to a key like this:
OK, now you have your three arrow types on your hotbar, here is how you quickbind them to keys:
Now you have barbed on F1, keen on F2, blunts on F3 and it is easy and fast to swap arrow types
When you get to 50 it all changes and every bit of damage you can do matters. Not using that 10% extra damage is like going out to RvR with a 90% quality bow...you can do it but unbotted it will just be that much harder.
Casters, I lead off with trueshot if it's up followed by RF shots (if the caster is mobile) or a critshot (if he is standing still). Bonedancers get a pass from me unless they are engaged otherwise. Some spiritmasters get a pass from me if I know they are MoC darkness specced (you quickly learn who is). Runies...I love runies, they are the only caster I do not fear. Hib casters are fair game....as long as I feel I can surprise them. If they know I'm in the area, they get a pass. The baseline stun they can QC will wreck your IRS.
As for archers, I use the Fool's Bow. I can usually win the interupt war, but if they get the advantage engage is my friend. Engage and walk backwards away from them, as soon as they drop the shot stance to move up, start shooting them. Hunter pets are a pain in the ass for me as I don't have slam anymore. I will either take a chance and charge the hunter (damn zephyr makes charging archers risky) or back out of LoS and into the water so the pet can't follow me.
Shield toting fighters always start off by shooting them in the back, gains you a extra shot or two.
Q: Legendary Bows - Do these bows do elemental damage, or the arrow listed damage? Popular belief is that they debuff the right elemental, but still do pierce/slash/blunt damage. Before I get a bow made could you let us know if they really do elemental damage?
A: From the keyboard of the Item Princess: Currently, elemental damage es will not function on bows or arrows. For legendary bows, the damage type dealt is still dependent on the arrow's damage type, even though the proc debuffs an elemental resist. However, the proc rate on the legendary bows is higher than that of other legendary weapons, which allows the direct damage portion of the spell to help compensate for the lack of elemental damage done by using the legendary bow.
