Formula for melee speed & AF
|
Wanted to know if anyone knew the formula for 2 things...
1 - each point in melee speed ( max of 10 of course ) would equal what in quickness?
2 - how much does AF absorb melee damage? For example, if I had 0 AF vs 50....and someone hit me for 500...how much would 50 AF absorb?
Hope my questions made sense...
Thanks if anyone can help....

best Weapon speed calc is Spydor's
http://daoc.nisrv.com/modules.php?name=Weapon_Speed_Calc
Let's you play with quick and melee speed bumps for best combo
There's a AF tool there tool
Lot's of great tools actually

Ok, The second question you asked is much more complex than the speed calc and it took me a few days to run down.
Thanks primarily to a friend of mine; (Brenach-50Warden-Tristan); I can give you the AF information you asked for.
AF does not absorb damage, it modifies how damage is calculated.
The formula I read was posted by a Mythic class Team Lead a while back but as not been verified by Mythic as far as I know.
http://vnboards.ign.com/Midgard_Rogue_Professions/b20912/93168588/?4
Weapon Damage calculation formula
this is a basic formula and does not take into account all factors such as style growth rate, special buffs and procs, etc...
((Variance*((Weap_skill)/AF)*(Weapon_Damage_Cap/3))*(1-Resists)*(1-absorb)
Used with the following variables pulled from posts by Wyrd and others on spydor's web page.
http://daoc.nisrv.com/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=13
Weapon Damage Cap: (Damage Cap = DPS * SPD * 3 * (1 + (SPD – 2) * .03)
Weapon SKill:
The number used in on your in game stat page may not represent the number used in calculating damage. If you use a blade style, then your total blade attrib is used. If you use a CD style, then total CD attrib is use, shield style ...etc...
target AF:
resists: For specific damage type
absorb: Armor ABS %
variance: Random element to allow small fluctuations
For the purpose of a short example, I'll use the following totals.
Weapon cap: 300
WS: 1700
target AF: 700
resists: 26%
absorb: 19%
variance: 1.125
((1.125 x ((1700/700) x (300/3) x (.74) x (.81) = 163.75 points per hit average
If you added 50 points of AF to this same formula the total would be...
((1.125 x ((1700/750) x (300/3) x (.74) x (.81) = 152.85 points per hit average
For a difference of 11 points of damage per hit all other things being equal.
Along the same lines, the affect resists have on damage is just as, if not more significant.
A difference of 5% damage resist on the original formula results in an 11 point difference as well.
(calculated with 21% resists and 700 AF)
((1.125 x ((1700/700) x (300/3) x (.79) x (.81) = 174.82 points per hit average
The higher AF formula with the 21% resist results in..
((1.125 x ((1700/750) x (300/3) x (.79) x (.81) = 163.17 points per hit average
Does that mean that 50 points of AF is equal to 5% resists? Not at all. While AF affects damage in several areas at once (I understand that some magic damage uses weaponskill/AF calcuation), AF has less of an impact the higher an opponent's Weapon Skill goes. So as the RR of the toons you face increases, resists become more important.
Anyway, hope this was helpful. It sure was interesting to work through all of this information.
Thanks to Brenach, Spydor, Wyrd, Vilna, NuEM, and everyone else who contributed to the linked threads.
Thanks,
